Municipal plant saves $2,000+/month while reducing sludge output and eliminating foaming — MICROBE-LIFT®/IND.
Municipal SBR plant — archived partner study · Southern Pennsylvania, USA · 20 August 2024
The challenge
Excessive foaming throughout the system caused aerobic digesters to effectively become anaerobic. Filter press performance was poor, chemical costs for flocculation aids were high, and winter operations were disrupted by frozen foam blocking decant troughs.
The approach
MICROBE-LIFT®/IND and MICROBE-LIFT®/OC programme designed to improve biological performance, reduce sludge generation, and eliminate foaming across the SBR system.

Chemical usage
Municipal wastewater facilities face many of the same challenges as councils in the UK and Ireland. This documented programme shows how biological augmentation can reduce costs while improving compliance — Eco Balance Ltd supplies and supports the same technology for local authorities.
